Canvas - American goldfinch
from $45.00
The American Goldfinch (Spinus Tristis) is a small finch that is predominantly yellow but changes color when it molts twice a year. Adult males, as seen here, are vibrant yellow in the spring and summer to attract a mate and change to olive in the winter. Females are a dull yellow-brown color that brightens slightly during the summer. They are grantors with a conical beak specifically designed to remove seeds which allows them to thrive in populated areas with a high number of bird feeders. They migrate south in the winter to avoid below freezing temperatures that they can't tolerate.
