The Baltimore Oriole is a small, migratory icterid blackbird (small to medium-sized, often colorful, passerine birds) common to Eastern North America. They migrate to Southern Mexico and Northern South America in the winter then back to their breeding grounds in North Eastern North America in April-May. The males migrate first and secure a 2-3 acre plot of land then wait for females to arrive. While males have a vibrant orange color, females color ranges from olive-brown on their heads to yellow-brown towards their bellies. Young male's don't molt into their bright-orange adult plumage until the fall of their second year.
